Annual Meeting Wraps Up A Great Year
NELLI has had a fine year of competition and social events and the finale was the Hard Core Lotus Driver's Tour followed by the annual meeting. This particular tour was supposed to happen on October 19 and was called the NELLI Fall Tour. We had great plans to view the autumn colors and visit Mt. Wachusett in Princeton, Ma., where the annual Applefest was running. Unfortunately the weather was dreadful - too much for even the Brits to endure, so we cancelled. Thus it was that we organized another tour at the very last moment to be run on November 2. Kinda chancy for Massachusetts but we were determined to have one more go.
The weather for the tour turned out to be pretty good and we had a nice turnout. A lot of different Lotus models were there including Esprit, Europas, Elans, and Type 14 Elite. Quite a sight going down the road at speed. The tour was about 75 miles and all arrived without any drama, although Foster Cooperstein's Elite was indicating intermittent oil pressure as he rolled into the parking lot at the Picaldilly Pub. Just a slight oil line leak and a Lucas electrical connection so no harm done.
The annual business meeting and lunch took place at the Pub, and so many members were there that we had to add three more tables. Jon Gardner announced that the treasury is healthy and that we gained 17 new members this year. But the big news is that Dick Perdichizzi, Club President for many, many years decided to step down, and John White was elected to take his place. NELLI owes a huge debt of gratitude to Dick for his long time leadership, and we are pleased to announce that he will be continuing to lead as a member of the board of trustees. Jon Gardner was reelected as Treasurer and continues his excellent work on behalf of the club.
And so we close another fine year with NELLI, but stay tuned. The coming year promises to be better yet. There will be new events and new ways for the members to enjoy their cars and their friends in NELLI.
