NELLI - A NELLI Thank You Note

A heartfelt acknowledgement is due Dick and Juliet Perdichizzi for the time and effort they have put into New England Lotus Lovers Inc., over the past several years.  Dick has served as president of this New England Lotus car club since the fall of 1992, and recently stepped down from that post, but will continue on as a trustee of the club.

Over the course of Dick’s reign as NELLI president, NELLI has hosted two national LOG’s, Lotus Owner’s Gatherings, one in 1994 and the second in 2001.  Dick helped rally the club members to getting the difficult task at hand accomplished. Notes from annual meetings indicate that LOG 14 details were being discussed over a year before LOG 14 occurred.  Dick served as president for a decade, but other jobs were included as part of his duties. He also served as secretary, membership chairman, and activities director at various stages of his tenure.

Juliet served as treasurer for all those years and more. She was there when computers were in their infancy, and she was working with some pretty rudimentary equipment. It’s much easier now with our modern PC equipment and email.  Juliet spent countless hours on all that is involved with keeping the membership and financial records current and accurate, no easy task.  She was a driving force in coordination of LOG facilities and functions, and served as event guidebook director as well.

Dick and Juliet hosted countless cookouts at their home in Burlington, MA, for the club, usually in the spring as our first event of the year, and then often in the summer or when the club needed a meeting place to plan events.  Great barbeque was the order of the day.  Last year, Dick treated the club to a live demonstration of the wind tunnel at MIT where Dick teaches astrophysics. He gave the club a brief lesson on the forces of aerodynamics, and then we were afforded a live test on various Lotus scale model race cars in the tunnel.

We can be assured that Dick and Juliet, their children, Mary Alice and Rebecca, and the red 72 Europa Twin Cam, will be a welcome part of NELLI for years to come.
